The 7th OPAP Limassol 3×3 came to a thrilling conclusion with an epic qualification battle for the Men’s National Team in the FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup Group hosted in Cyprus. The event, held from June 9 to 18, created a vibrant atmosphere on the beachfront of Limassol, attracting over 100 teams across nine categories.
The final phase of the FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup 2023, set to take place in Jerusalem in September, will feature the Men’s National Team from Cyprus and Women’s National Team from Luxembourg. In a remarkable upset, the Team Cyprus emerged victorious in overtime against Ireland with a score of 18-19, securing their place in the prestigious tournament. This achievement highlights the potential for Cyprus to achieve remarkable success through collaboration and synergy.
The Cyprus Basketball Federation, in collaboration with 3on3 Cyprus LTD, successfully co-hosted the FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup Qualifier for the second consecutive year. Last year, the Women’s National Team achieved great success in the tournament, and this year, it was the Men’s National Team’s turn to shine. With support from the passionate crowd in Limassol, Cyprus pulled off another impressive upset, securing their spot in the European competition. Simon Michael was named the MVP of the event for his outstanding performance.
Aside from the intense qualifying matches, the OPAP Limassol 3×3 2023 events provided spectators with captivating basketball battles. Attendees fortunate enough to witness the Pier events were treated to a display of skill and excitement by the participants.
